Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno seeks innovative candidates for a Web Developer position in Marketing & Communications. The Web Developer is responsible for translating approved website designs and prototypes into standards-based websites within the University of Nevada, Reno's (UNR) content management system (CMS). With a focus on ack-end development, the position proactively manages the CMS and related administration and quality assurance activities. The Web Developer also consults on the integration of other web-based technologies and manages student interns as needed.

Duties Include

-Collaborate with Marketing & Communications colleagues in planning and strategizing websites that achieve organizational objectives.

-Create necessary schemas, templates and style sheets that pass relevant validation tests and are accessible to disabled users.

-Design, develop, analyze, modify, support and debug web-based applications using the .Net Framework and a variety of programming languages

-Ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 508 compliance, WCAG 2.0 Level AA, and related regulations

-Manage users, groups and relevant security and permissions

-Offer regular CMS training to new and current users

-Develop and maintain a comprehensive CMS user manual

-Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and two (2) years or Master's degree and one (1) year of related professional work experience

Related Experience: website and/or web based application development; electronic accessibility standards

Preferred Qualifications

-Knowledge of backend programming languages such as C#

-Knowledge of frontend programming languages such as HTML and CSS

-Experience with website accessibility standards

-Experience with a content management system

The total compensation package includes a negotiable competitive salary, moving allowance (if applicable), a rich retirement plan, health insurance options that include dental and vision, life insurance, long-term disability, thirty (30) days of sick leave provided upon start date and two (2) days of sick leave accrued per full month after the first year of service, two (2) days of annual leave accrued each full month, along with many other benefits.
