Systems and Infrastructure Team Lead

The College of Agricultural Sciences Information Technology (Ag IT) team has an exciting opportunity to grow its team by adding a Systems & Infrastructure Team Lead (Sys Admin L4). We are looking for an emotionally intelligent, humble, and motivated teammate to join us and serve the Teaching, Research and Service missions of our college. This is a unique opportunity that requires a fine blend of both leadership skills and technical expertise.

We are looking for an experienced leader who has the proven ability to develop highly functional teams built on a foundation of trust. Applicants should have relevant experience in multiple facets of leadership, such as coaching, mentoring, evaluating, and ongoing professional development. Experience managing a team's work for intended results while ensuring services offered are sustainable, repeatable, and reliable is a core expectation. In addition to working with the Ag IT Leadership team and leading the Systems & Infrastructure team, the successful candidate's focus will be towards implementing new services and enhancing current offerings.

LEADERSHIP TEAM MEMBER: The Ag IT Leadership team consists of the IT Director, Associate Director, Technical & Solutions Architect Lead and Team Leads from the Support, Consulting, and Systems and Infrastructure teams. Leadership team members represent their team's perspective and collaborate to influence strategic decisions, projects, and initiatives in support of the information technology needs of the College. Leadership team leads are responsible for ensuring the actions of their teams align with the strategic initiatives, servant leadership culture, and values of Ag IT.

SYSTEMS AND INFRASTRUCTURE MANAGER/TEAM LEADER: The Systems & Infrastructure Team is comprised of highly skilled and dedicated Network and Systems Administrators. This team has the responsibility for the management and operations of:
  • Large networks on campus and geographically separated across the state.
  • Variety of security areas covering PCI compliance, vulnerability scanning/remediation, and account management.
  • Windows, Mac, and Linux endpoint management involving patching, upgrades/updates, and vulnerability resolution.
  • Virtual Environments in Ag, VMhosting, and the cloud.


This position must have a breath of technical knowledge to manage the subject matter experts responsible for the systems and services this team provides.

This position will align the work of the team with the goals of Ag IT and the College.

TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES: In addition to the leadership responsibilities, this position will include technical responsibilities such as:
  • Facilitating the creation of a Low Code/No Code (i.e., Power Automate) service offerings.
  • Facilitating the operation of infrastructure, servers, and services.
  • Assisting in the adoption of virtualized/cloud-based servers/services.
  • Assisting with end point management, with specific emphasis on Mac devices.

This position typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus 8 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
