Sr. Programmer Analyst
General Summary/Purpose:

Support the Brain Injury Outcomes Services (BIOS) Research Program and Clinical Trials Unit, which manages multi-center, 20+ million dollar federally funded clinical trials and multiple site-specific pharmaceutical sponsored trials. Provide support to the Division leadership.

The Sr. Programmer Analyst is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of the Brain Injury Outcomes NeuroImaging Center (BIONIC). As part of the academic research office of BIOS, BIONIC is responsible for advancing the technologies associated with image sharing, algorithm development, process automation, image interpretation, and machine learning. The TBD will provide leadership for strategic planning in designing comprehensive innovative integrated solutions across the full clinical trial portfolio of BIOS and beyond neuroimaging.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

The Sr. Programmer Analyst will be responsible for the following:

Image Analysis
  • Assist with training of all trial individuals involved in image acquisition, processing, or analysis both internal and external to the division
  • Catalogue and archive neuroimaging studies for organized analysis and general clinical trial record keeping
  • Participate in project-related meetings and apply or refine existing BIONIC/BIOS standard operating procedures
  • Execute de-identification tools of PHI within neuroimaging library

Machine Learning
  • Develop input workflow for pipeline through Tensorflow
  • Develop defined task lists using programming skills to complete project of limited scope
  • Gather complex system requirements through strategic meetings to understand business requirements and possible solutions
  • Implementation/Testing
  • Develop/change data input, files/database structures, data transformation, algorithms, and data output by using appropriate computer language/tools to provide technical solutions for moderately complex application development tasks
  • Prepare components and tools to achieve integrated automation
  • Create and document moderately complex test scenarios using the appropriate testing tools to validate and verify application functionality

Administer
  • Implement changes by adhering to the change management policies and procedures for any given project to communicate to all parties the nature, significance, and risk factors of the solution
  • Oversight of BIONIC processes to develop new innovations
  • Management and organization of image database for internal use and cloud-based sharing
  • Prepare reports as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or other closely related field required. 3+ years' experience required in a related technology field. Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or other closely related field required
  • Programming language experience in Python and/or C++ required
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment with changing priorities required


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or other closely related field
  • Medical imaging experience
  • Machine learning (software engineering) experience with TensorFlow

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
