Join our team and put your knowledge, skills, and passions to work as a Research Network Engineer. The University of Wisconsin-Madison, Division of Information Technology (DoIT), Wide Area Network (WAN) is seeking an enthusiastic and talented person for this position. The Research Network Engineer position is responsible for providing advanced network and cyberinfrastructure engineering support for research, administrative, instructional and outreach activities related to several major wide-area networks (WAN) including: the University of Wisconsin System Network interconnecting Wisconsin's 26 affiliated public universities and colleges to each other and the Internet; regional and metropolitan optical networks including the Broadband Optical, Research, Education and Science Network (BOREAS-Net), Northern Tier Network - North Dakota (NTN-ND) and Metropolitan Unified Fiber Network (MUFN); and various UW-Madison off-campus research projects, departments and facilities. The position also provides consulting and advanced network technical support to campus researchers in pursuit and/or execution of network-intensive research grant activities that require connectivity to the networks we support.
