Position Summary:
The Programmer Analyst Sr. provides service to the philanthropic community by providing programming, design and analysis work, and systems development. The Programmer Analyst Sr. assists the Assistant Director of AIS in effective management of the Ellucian CRM Advance/Ethos systems and other enterprise system applications and interfaces for the Advancement area. The Programmer Analyst Sr. works independently and in a team with other staff to design and develop programming as needed and assist in the planning, development, implementation, and maintenance of complex software and hardware products for the Advancement area. The Programmer Analyst Sr. participates in the analysis and evaluation of information needs for Advancement and works directly with Advancement staff, UI Foundation staff, and with the University community to develop or resolve system and application design needs. The Programmer Analyst Sr. works with the Advancement Office to ensure excellent service to the University community and by performing other duties as assigned. The person is a member of the Advancement Services team and works cooperatively with other office staff to achieve University and Advancement goals.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in computer science or related discipline
  • Experience writing in one or more commonly used programming languages or in 4th generation language appropriate for mult-use/multi-tasking environments
  • Experience with databse programming (SQL Server), operating systems including UNIX/Linux and WIndows, performing data analysis
  • Experience testing and debugging IT systems
  • Experience interacting effectively with users to perform system design and analysis
  • Experience writing IT programming specifications and documentation in accordance with published standards
  • Experience handling confidential information


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Masters degree
  • Experience in higher education advancement
  • Experience with project management
  • Experience implementing, maintaining and designing enterprise software programs
  • Ability to prepare short-term strategies for planning purposes
  • Knowledge of Oracle, SQL Server Reporting Services, Crystal Reports, Postman and writing APIs
  • Good knowledge and understanding of computer security issues
