Seattle University Information Technology Services is searching for a Programmer Analyst to join our community and help us on our journey to a higher level of service and quality. Information Technology Services (ITS) provides high touch, high quality customer service to our community of faculty, staff, and students. We are looking for a results-oriented programmer analyst to bring strong skills and experience to our diverse team. The Programmer Analyst will have three primary roles:

1 Participate in key aspects of the design, development, testing, deployment, and documentation of Seattle U's new identity management system (IdM) system built using Microsoft Identity Manager. The outcome of this project will be a highly automated system for provisioning, de-provisioning, role grants, access control, and more. The IdM will work seamlessly with Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory Federated Services (ADFS), Ellucian Colleague, and numerous other campus systems.
2 Support the transition of servers overseen by the Business Intelligence team to a DevOps model. This includes monitoring, patching, updates, backups, and general system administration.
3 Assist the Business Intelligence team by building upon the leveraged technologies to deliver data across multiple pathways such as WebAPIs, directly querying Microsoft SQL Server, and transferring flat files between systems.

The Programmer Analyst:

Demonstrates and applies a variety of advanced technical skills, including knowledge of multiple programming languages.
Believes in DevOps principles and is excited to learn and leverage DevOps.
Is a key technical resource for other development staff, providing technical advice, review, training and support for various projects.
Maintains excellent communication with customers and has an enthusiastic approach to teamwork and collaboration.
Is a self-starter, possessing sound judgment and strong problem-solving skills.
Has strong technical skills, an inquisitive and positive nature, and is able to balance shifting priorities for the greatest positive impact.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

Application Design, Development, Automation, and Testing
Design, document, develop, test, troubleshoot, and maintain components for applications and systems.
Develop and implement systems that minimize support costs and maintenance requirements.
Develop and implement integration technologies to deliver data to disparate systems.
Deploy DevOps systems and processes.
Perform system/application administration on systems relevant to the Business Intelligence team.
Estimate work, provide completion times, and demonstrate personal accountability to agreed upon schedules and milestones.
Oversee day-to-day development activities to ensure product quality, standards compliance, reliable delivery, and timely completion.
Work with source code repositories.
Design, create, and execute unit tests to confirm solutions meet specifications.
Analysis and Documentation
Conduct moderate to complex analysis and design tasks for the development of systems.
Consult with clients to gather information about needs, objectives, features, and input and output requirements.
Research, analyze, define, and document requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, interfaces with other systems.
Research, analyze, define, and document requirements for hardware and software.
Write and maintain technical specifications.
Write and maintain code documentation for testing and change management.
Review documentation written by others that describes installation and operating procedures.
Contribute feedback to defining policies, procedures, and plans in the areas of disaster recovery, enterprise backups, systems management, monitoring, systems and applications audits, and systems administration/security.
Research, learn, and implement applicable emerging technologies in support of university mission and goals.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field plus four (4) years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience with coding and scripting languages (e.g. C#, Visual Basic, Python, PowerShell, T-SQL).
Experience with systems and IT operations.
Comfort with frequent, incremental code testing and deployment.
Strong grasp of automation tools.
Data management skills.
Demonstrated work experience using rigorous testing methodologies including, unit, system, regression, and user acceptance testing.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with identity providers or identity tools (e.g. Shibboleth, ADFS,Microsoft Identity Manager, SailPoint IdentityIQ)
Familiar with ETL concepts that support Identity and Integration data needs.
Familiar with GIT version control (experience using GIT on Visual Studio Online preferred).
Experience with business continuity.
