Detailed Job Description
The Department of Cybersecurity at RIT invites applications for a full-time Lecturer beginning 8/14/2024. The successful candidate will be excited and able to teach introduction to programming courses (including Java and Python), as well as various topics in cybersecurity. These topics may include fundamentals of cybersecurity, systems security, network security, forensics, penetration testing, and more.

The College: The Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences prepares students to improve lives and change the world through computing; GCCIS is home to the departments of Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, School of Information, and the School of Interactive Games and Media. The college's PhD program in Computer and Information Sciences is ranked 57th by CSRankings.org. The college has over 130 full-time faculty and more than 4,200 undergraduate and 960 graduate students. The Department: The Department: In July 2012, the Department of Cybersecurity (formerly Computing Security) at RIT was established to address critical security challenges cutting across computing disciplines. The department currently has 16 full-time faculty and is committed to excellence in teaching and research. The department offers Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Cybersecurity, with current enrollment of about 500 and 100 students, respectively. We also have a Ph.D. program which is administered within the B. Thomas Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences. We are designated as a National Center for Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense and Research by the National Security Agency. The department seeks to advance the cybersecurity discipline and to meet the rapidly growing need for cybersecurity professionals in the workforce. RIT's cyber defense team is a perennial contender in the National Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition (CCDC) and won the national championship in 2013. RIT is also home to the National Collegiate Penetration Testing Competition (CPTC). The department engages in a wide range of research in topics such as Applied Cryptography, Cyberanalytics, Privacy, Network Security, Trusted Computing, Usable Security, Wireless Security, and Cybersecurity Pedagogy.

Required Minimum Qualifications
  • Completion of a minimum M.S. in a computing related field
  • Ability to teach the introductory programming curriculum and cybersecurity courses
  • Ability to contribute to curriculum and course development in introductory programming and cybersecurity
  • Strong commitment to undergraduate cybersecurity education
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the colleges continuing commitment to cultural diversity, pluralism, and individual differences.
