Lead Programmer Analyst


Job Summary:
Designs, writes, maintains, documents, tests, debugs, researches and implements computer functions, screens, procedures, subroutines and workflows. Works with other programmers and managers to determine what support is needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assists in the design and implementation of new applications
  • Works with others in developing and implementing support software
  • Receives and analyzes information and converts to computer procedures, functions, screens, Web pages, Discoverer workbooks
  • Debugs and maintains programs
  • Writes new documentation and maintains old documentation to reflect current program status
  • Evaluates user request for new or modified computer processes to determine feasibility, and what platform would be best suited for the process
  • Identify current operating procedures and clarify program objectives
  • Supports users by providing new data reporting, processes, workflows, screens and tools for users
  • Reads manuals, periodicals, and technical reports to learn ways to develop programs that meet user requirements
  • Formulates plan outlining steps required to develop program and submits for approval
  • Prepares flowcharts and diagrams to illustrate sequence of steps program must follow and describe logical operations involved to accomplish goals of user request
  • Converts project specifications into sequence of detailed instructions and logical steps for coding into language understandable by computer
  • Enters program code into computer system. Enters commands into computer to run and test program
  • Reads computer reports or observes screen behavior and interaction to detect syntax or logic errors during program test, or uses diagnostic software to detect errors
  • Replaces, deletes, or modifies code to correct errors. Performs maintenance requests for problems
  • Analyzes, reviews, and alters program to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements
  • Writes documentation to describe program development, logic, coding, and corrections. Writes manual for users to describe installation and operating procedures
  • Assists Manager of Application Software in helping users to solve operating problems
  • Recreates steps taken by user to locate source of problem and rewrites program to correct errors
  • Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
  • Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC)
  • Supports the values of the College: diversity, teaching excellence, student success, innovation and creativity and service to the College

    Required Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures:
  • Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of PL/SQL programming experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, certification, and related experience
  • Team leader for programming projects
  • Experience with computerized systems
  • Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
