Position Description
The IT Support Senior Specialist has an expert level of technical knowledge and experience in one or more IT-related areas for the organization. This position's scope of responsibility includes providing technical support and assistance to departments, faculty, staff, and students with the use of software applications, customized applications, systems support, and websites, etc. The Senior IT Support Specialist will also manage team members and area or unit IT software projects in support of business operations.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Works independently to perform advanced technical duties associated with systems analysis for specific specialty software and technical support in support of the enterprise.
  • Provides an expert level of technical knowledge and experience in one or more IT-related areas for the organization.
  • Contributes advanced technical skills and support to customers for software applications, customized applications, websites, etc.
  • Independently manages team members and/or project leads to provide:
  • Specialty and advanced software support and projects for an area or unit.
  • Area and/or unit IT software projects and systems in support of business operations.
  • Advanced technical skillset kept current by reviewing market trends and product development.
  • Adheres to all appropriate Institutional policies (including IT OPs) and other relevant internal departmental policies.
  • Administers TTU website analytics, including implementation, maintenance, reporting, education, and recommending a policy.
  • Provides oversight for technical web accessibility, including implementation of reporting, policy, and education.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Technology Support or IT Division leadership.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Demonstrated ability to: exercise judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies and activities; plan and organize effectively, prioritize goals, and use time efficiently, and stay on task; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective work relationships. Expert analytical skills, including process description, logic, problem diagnostics, and problem solving. Expert experience with selected specialty software and technology operations required by area or unit. Training in advanced software use and support through education or experience.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
(1) Knowledge of web programming languages, frameworks, and libraries. (2) Demonstrated understanding of software development and technical skills. (3) Ability to establish a plan of action, prioritize and execute assigned tasks effectively. (4) Ability to express complex topics in layman's terms to audiences with varying skill sets. (5) Knowledge of SEO and web analytics best practices. (6) Ability to analyze web site needs and provide a clear path for improvements. (7) Skilled with training in technical topics.

Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree with coursework in computer science, MIS, IT, or other related area plus seven (7) years related full-time paid experience OR a combination of related education and/or experience. Applicants for this Security Sensitive Level II position will be subject to a criminal background check and must pass a drug and alcohol test after a conditional offer of employment has been extended, but before employment can be confirmed.

Preferred Qualifications
(1) Experience managing and reporting on web analytics such as Google Analytics. (2) Advanced knowledge of web accessibility requirements such as Section 508 and WCAG 2.1. (3) Knowledge of web analytics, accessibility, and SEO best practices. (4) Ability to establish a plan of action, prioritize and execute assigned tasks effectively. (5) Ability to express complex topics in layman's terms to audiences with varying skill sets.
