Starting Salary Range: $79,000-$90,000/annually. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Involves recommending, developing, implementing, administering, coordinating, and / or evaluating Human Resources policies, labor contracts, statutes, programs and procedures covering several of the following: recruitment, compensation, employee relations, labor relations, payroll, benefits, welfare programs, training and development, visa procurement, inter-location transfers, and employee services.

In collaboration and facilitation with UC Santa Cruz, Staff Human Resources, the Divisional HR Manager for ITS oversees divisional human resources and related processes for ~240 positions, including staffing, merit award,, and performance management programs. Specific areas of responsibility include: staffing & recruitment, payroll, classification, compensation, diversity, learning & development and organizational development. Serves as advisor to the Vice Chancellor IT and senior management on HR matters. Builds and maintains partnerships with managers and peers to ensure delivery of Staff HR services that reflect the strategic objectives of the organization.

Uses advanced professional HR concepts to provide guidance to all levels within the organization, utilizing specialized human resources expertise within area of responsibility to resolve highly complex issues. Delegated high level of autonomy with little or no direction on assignments.

Qualifications include:
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.

  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of organizational policies and procedures; advanced knowledge of functional area and understands how work affects other areas in Human Resources and the organization.

  • Advanced knowledge of human resources concepts, policies and procedures including employment practices, labor relations, salary administration, training and other areas of human resources as well as organizational initiatives relating to and / or affecting human resources.

  • Advanced interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to present complex information.

  • Demonstrated ability to handle extremely difficult or volatile situations / individuals effectively. Demonstrated active listening and critical thinking skills

    Selected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment criminal history background check.
