The Computer Science Department at Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania invites applications for two open positions beginning August 2019. Rank is commensurate with experience.

Slippery Rock University is located in Western Pa - an hour from downtown Pittsburgh. The Department offers a BS in Computing (accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET, http://www.abet.org) with tracks in Information Technology (IT), Computer Science (CS), and Computing Analytics. The department will begin offering a BS in Cybersecurity in the Fall of 2019. Excellence in the education of undergraduate students in CS and IT are the primary focuses of these two positions; both of these tracks are programming based. In addition, the IT track heavily utilizes the Linux operating system. Teaching assignments for both positions will include core courses. Advanced courses in IT or CS will be part of the teaching assignment. Duties include committee work at departmental, college, and university levels, research that may involve undergraduate students, academic advising, scholarly activities, and other duties as assigned.

The minimum qualifications of the position are: Ph.D. in Computer Science or closely related field at time of employment. Successful performance in an on-campus interview, including a teaching demonstration. Perceived ability to teach intermediate and advanced Computing courses and the perceived ability to work productively with students and colleagues is required. Commitment to the education of diverse populations.

For the CS position, preference will be given to candidates whose experience provides evidence of the ability to teach core computing courses: introductory and advanced programming, computer security, networking, mobile computing/IoT, and enterprise architecture. For the IT position, preference will be given to candidates whose experience provides evidence of the ability to teach client/server web programming, system configuration and administration, advanced web languages, and enterprise applications.

For both positions, preference will also be given to candidates demonstrating familiarity with instructional technology in the teaching-learning process, and the role of faculty in student success, recruitment, and retention.
