This position begins Fall 2021

Scottsdale Community College (SCC) is looking for a full-time Computer Information Systems instructor to start in Fall of 2021. This position provides instruction and conduct classes in accordance with the goals and philosophy of the CIS Department and within a defined course of study. Provides the leadership to champion the CIS Department's Web and Mobile Application Development initiative by integrating new and emerging technologies into the curriculum and instructional offerings. The faculty member will maintain content expertise, plan course sequencing, oversee technology needs, select course materials, help prepare and select adjunct faculty members to teach content, and develop and maintain relationships with the local business community.

Essential Functions
Supervise and instruct students in a classroom, lab, or off-campus setting;
Develop instructional materials, curriculum, syllabi/course outlines, evaluation tools, overseeing technology needs, and help to prepare and select adjunct faculty members to teach content;
Develop and maintain business relationships with employers in the local community. Establish a channel into the workforce to direct our students for internships and eventual employment;
Remain current with new trends and developments through attendance of conferences, courses, seminars and/or workshops;
Maintain academic support hours and participate in departmental, college, and district committees and projects;
Evaluate knowledge of subject matter taught and monitor student's scholastic records;
Integrate and develop technology-based educational delivery systems to instruct a diverse population of students

Minimum Qualifications
The Occupational Teaching Fields require the following from an accredited college or university:

1. A master's degree in the teaching field, or a master's in any teaching field with 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching field, or

2. A bachelor's degree plus three years work experience in field to be taught, or an associate's degree or 64 semester hours and five years work experience in the field to be taught, or five years work experience in the field to be taught

3. EDU 250 - Teaching and Learning in the Community College or equivalent must be completed within two years of date of hire

Desired Qualifications
  1. Three (3) or more years of industry experience in mobile/web application development.
  2. Experience with cross-platform mobile application development including iOS, Windows, and/or Android, Agile Development, and Scrum.
  3. Experience with web development using HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, Bootstrap, and integration with 3rd party libraries and APIs.
  4. Proficient in at least one of the following programming languages -- Java, C#, and/or Python.
  5. Experience with SQL and database management system(s).
  6. Experience teaching and developing face-to-face, hybrid, and online courses in the field of Computer Information Systems at the community college or university level.
  7. Demonstrated cultural competency and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, and cultural environments.

Special Working Conditions
  • May require numerous evenings or weekends.
  • May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen.
  • May be required to lift or carry up to #25 lbs.
