Business Analyst

Penn State Information Technology (IT) is looking for a full time Business Analyst to join their team. This position will ensure that initiatives and projects are properly supported through requirements gathering, stakeholder analysis, communication plans, risk assessments, process mapping, gap analysis, and project planning.

Primary duties include the following:

Conduct stakeholder analysis, develop and execute communication plans

Work closely with stakeholders to gather requirements and analyze information about critical business processes

Communicate in business and IT terms, effectively translating between business and IT resources

Develop documentation, including visual diagrams, process models, process maps, for current and future state processes, organizational structure, data structure, and system architecture

Analyze existing business solutions in comparison to improved or proposed changes to identify gaps and/or necessary changes

In collaboration with the customer and internal IT resources, conduct solution comparisons to evaluate, select, and optimize solutions based upon requirements

Identify risks and develop mitigation plans

Write specifications and design wire frame mock-ups used by developers, for automation of business processes

Develop and implement metrics/Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to measure overall impacts on processes and organization

Support the testing and implementation of related IT solutions by developing and executing test plans/test scripts and participating in testing and pilots to ensure desired results are achieved

Support, develop, and deliver communications and training to users and stakeholders

Compile and write Business Case/Justifications

Conduct Total Cost of Ownership analysis

Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Various Industry certifications (e.g., Certified Business Analysis Professional) preferred. The successful candidate must be able to build effective relationships with stakeholders, be adaptable to change, and be able to handle multiple projects or initiatives. Attention to detail is a must.
