Assistant Professor of Information Sciences and Technology

Penn State Brandywine invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position, Assistant Professor of Information Sciences and Technology (IST) (36 week), to begin August 2020, or as negotiated. Responsibilities: Teach three courses (9 credits) each semester of lower and upper division classes using traditional, hybrid and online delivery methods. Teaching assignments may require teaching day, evening and/or weekend classes as needed. Publish research in refereed journals. Other responsibilities include: participation in professional organizations, and in course, curriculum, and program development; advising students and providing career guidance; participation in campus, university, and community service activities; supervising undergraduate research projects; instructional use of technology. Commitment to high-quality instruction in a student-centered environment, interest in active and collaborative learning, advocate for diversity and values of inclusion. Qualifications: Ph.D. in Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or closely related field by the start date is required. Seeking candidates with expertise in any of the following areas: database, networking, enterprise systems, data analytics, cloud computing, cyber security and risk management, programming (Python and Java preferred), data science, gaming and app development or other emerging topics in the information technology field. Evidence of potential in research and publication is expected. Prior college-level and online teaching experience preferred. Candidates who enrich our diversity are strongly encouraged to apply. Students and faculty at Penn State Brandywine have all the resources of a major research university at their disposal, but in a small college atmosphere. The student/faculty ratio per course is low, so students can receive much individual attention.
