Assistant Professor of Computer Technology and Information Systems (or Computer Science) (tenure-track)

Ferrum College is seeking applications for the tenure track faculty position of Assistant Professor of Computer Technology and Information Systems (or Computer Science) beginning in the 2021-2022 academic year. The successful applicant will be a dynamic, student-focused teacher whose area of expertise includes the technical aspects of computer technology and information systems, specifically:

Networking
o Hardware troubleshooting
o Network design and maintenance
o Data transfer protocols
o Systems analysis and design
Cybersecurity
o Data encryption
o Vulnerability analysis and correction
o Attack simulations in a cyber-range environment
Programming
o Algorithm design
o Expertise in currently relevant programming languages
o Portable devices
o Internet of things
Computer Literacy

A Ph.D. in computer science or closely related discipline is required. Preference will be given to the candidate who demonstrates an ability to interact with diverse audiences and who are able to incorporate innovative, inclusive pedagogies and technology into their teaching.
