Assistant Professor of Information Sciences and Technology

Penn State New Kensington invites applications for Assistant Professor of Information Sciences and Technology (tenure-track appointment, 36 weeks) to begin August 2019 or as negotiated. Responsibilities include teaching a range of undergraduate courses (typically 9 credit hours per semester) in Information Sciences and Technology (IST) including introductory and upper-division courses. The successful candidate also will teach classes in support of our minor in Security Risk and Analysis. Teaching assignments will include evening classes and online/distributed instruction. Publish in refereed journals. Participate in professional organizations and in course, curriculum, and program development. Advise students and provide career guidance. Participate in campus, university, and community service activities. Qualifications include a PhD in information sciences, technology, or a closely related discipline. Expertise in the area of networking, network security or security and risk analysis is strongly preferred. Candidates must demonstrate knowledge of and experience in core areas of information technology including database construction and function, heterogeneous application development, project management, and organization theory. Evidence of potential in research and publication is expected, as is a demonstrated commitment to high-quality instruction in a student-centered environment. Interest in active and collaborative learning, the instructional use of technology, and hybrid and online teaching is an advantage. Prior college-level and online teaching experience, as well as experience using other distance-education delivery methods, is strongly preferred. Enthusiasm for working in a multidisciplinary environment is important.
