POSITION TITLE: Systems Administrator
DEPARTMENT: Information Systems (IS)
REPORTS TO: Associate Director of Technology and Instructional Support Services SALARY: $25.36 - $26.85
FLSA DESIGNATION: Hourly/Non-Exempt
SCHEDULE: Full-Time (1.0 FTE) | 12 months | 40 hours per week

POSITION SUMMARY:
The incumbent systems administrator oversees the learning management system (backend and GUI), Ally, and the video management system. The successful candidate will also serve faculty, staff and students in the development and use of integrations, instructional technologies, software applications. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Learning Management System and Ally Administration (backend and GUI)
a. Oversee the daily operations of the learning management system and Ally
b. Review and analyze daily log files
c. Integrate, manage, evaluate and resolve issues with user accounts, course enrollments, course
assignments and student enrollment that flow from Ellucian Colleague
d. Research, evaluate, test, integrate, update, manage and resolve LTIs, APIs, building blocks and other
application and system integrations
e. Monitor, evaluate and track application updates, known issues and storage
f. Troubleshoot system, course and end user issues
g. Utilize data analysis tools
h. Communicate impactful outages, upgrades and changes to the campus community
i. Import, export and copy courses
j. Create and assist faculty, staff and students with system, non-automated courses and enrollments
k. Research, test and evaluate updates prior to moving to the production server
l. Assist faculty and administration with reporting and academic dishonesty
m. Archive and delete previous semester courses
n. Create documentation
o. Participate in Blackboard user communities and administration user groups

Faculty, Staff and Student Consulting, Support and Training
a. Research, create and deliver physical and digital materials in the use of the learning management system, instructional applications and instructional technologies for faculty, staff and students
b. Schedule and conduct workshops for faculty, staff and students in the use of the learning management system and instructional applications and technologies.
c. Coordinate and maintain department webpages
d. Assist in consultation with faculty in best practices, pedagogical use of instructional technologies
and design
e. Assist in the research, evaluation and planning of instructional resources to support faculty and
students in the advancement of teaching and learning
f. Email, phone and face to face support for instructional applications and instructional technologies for faculty, staff and students
g. Assist students with connection and the use software applications and integrations

Video Management Administration and Support
a. Oversee and manage the daily operations of the lecture capture and streaming system
b. Assist faculty, staff and students in the operation and use of the lecture capture system
c. Monitor, evaluate and track application updates, known issues and storage
d. Troubleshoot system, course and end user issues
e. Utilize data analysis tools

Department Functions
a. Assist and collaborate with members of the TISS and IS teams b. Interact and collaborate with vendors
c. Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Understanding of Blackboard SaaS system administration (back-end system and GUI), daily operations and database structure
Understanding of lecture capture and streaming systems
Understanding of various pedagogical appropriate delivery, and the application of technology to
teaching
Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient in MS Office 365. Basic knowledge in system software, device software, image, audio and
video editing so various software applications and instructional technologies, manage projects,
write documentation and conduct workshops in various formats
Conduct faculty/staff support variety of devices, applications and pedagogical topics.
Ability to work with and communicate effectively with university administrators, staff, faculty and
students from a variety of backgrounds, a variety of disciplines and with differing levels of
technological expertise
Research solutions to instructional and technological problems related instructional applications,
technologies, delivery methods, devices and hardware
Manage student employees
Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects
Ability to work on and manage independently as well as function as a member of a team

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, information technology, or related field, significant experience in technology and instructional technologies may be considered in lieu of academic degree
1-3 years of learning management system administration (backend and GUI)
Experience with LTIs, APIs, and building blocks
Experience with lecture capture and streaming systems
Knowledge of relational databases
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Excellent oral and written communication skills
A personal commitment to the Christian faith and to the integration of faith and learning
Demonstrated growth in cultural competence, awareness of societal and structural inequities and
proven experience in effectively establishing relationships and positive communications with students and other constituents across multiple dimensions of diversity including, but not limited to, race, gender, varying abilities, nationality, sexual orientation, gender identity, class or religious perspectives

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with Python scripting
