Under general direction, the System Administrator is responsible for ensuring the performance and reliability of the College's enterprise systems. Participates in the installation, maintenance, training, and support of all operating system software and hardware, and related products for the college's servers. Responsible for pre-installation activities of purchased software and pre-installation of vendor releases. In addition, has responsibility for developing software standards, capacity planning, and allocation of system resources for use by institutional products.

The System Administrator assists with security of all operating system software and related products. Monitors and maintains performance metrics for system features. Recommends and takes corrective/preventive action. Assist with the maintenance of the storage area network, storage allocation, backup, recovery, and archival procedures. Monitors use and availability of storage resources. Maintains storage configurations to provide capacity planning and performance tuning of systems. Assist with administration of databases that are related to or part of the college's enterprise systems including all DBA functions and authority.

The System Administrator is dedicated to the learning college concepts by developing programs and facilitating activities that promote student success and lifelong learning.

Education and Experience:
Minimum of two years' experience with UNIX / Windows Administration. Must have demonstrated analytical ability to logically approach applications. Bachelor's degree required. SQL Certification preferred. Experience with Colleague ERP system a plus.

Qualifications

Demonstrated knowledge of Enterprise class operating systems (Windows, AIX/UNIX).

Demonstrated knowledge of systems utilities.

Demonstrated knowledge of systems languages (UNIX scripting, using the korn shell, creating application and system cron jobs, Powershell, etc.).

Demonstrated knowledge of SAN technologies.

Strong communication skills.

General knowledge of networks, personal computers, and related hardware and software.

Knowledge of Oracle and SQL database administration functions.

Knowledge of backup Utilities.

Hours: Monday - Friday; 8:00am to 5:15pm, On call 24 hours a day - 7 days a week
Minimum starting salary: $58,595
