Position Description
Information Technology Services (ITS) has an exciting opportunity for an Integration Engineer to join our community and play a key role in standing up a new dynamic technology platform to serve our students. The Integration Engineer will develop and support data integrations as we implement and utilize Slate for Student Success as a core component of our institutional efforts to improve student retention and enhance the student experience (see Goal 3 of Seattle University's Reigniting Our Strategic Directions 2022-27 plan).

Reporting to the Director of Application Services, the Integration Engineer will work with ITS team members and campus partners to establish and implement best practices with regards to data integrations between Slate and other university systems. As with all ITS roles at Seattle University, we are seeking a candidate with a leadership mindset who enjoys working in an energetic, collaborative environment to assess needs, troubleshoot issues, and deliver solutions.

Specifically, the Integration Engineer will:
  • Design, develop, test, and document Seattle U's enterprise on premise and cloud application integrations to support the Slate for Student Success instance.
  • Manage data flow between the student information system and Slate.
  • Ensure outcomes of delivered integrations include highly automated processes for enabling user account management, business processing, and state synchronization between all involved systems.
  • Engage in the design, development, testing, and documentation of new continuous integration and continuous deployment processes.
  • Seek to decrease deployment time and errors and increase deployment auditability, visibility, and testability through automation of repeatable processes.
  • Provide technical guidance on supported applications to facilitate better business processes and enhance user experience.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications
    Minimum Qualifications

  • A combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. 
  • Experience with Object Oriented programming, database queries, and scripting.
  • Experience utilizing Web APIs.
  • Experience utilizing source control (e.g., Git).
  • Familiar with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Demonstrated customer service orientation and the ability to organize, analyze, prioritize, and problem-solve within a fast-paced environment. 
  • Attention to detail, general flexibility, and the ability to ensure adherence to project requirements and timelines. 
  • Excited about technology and its impact, keeping abreast of industry trends and learning and adapting skillset quickly and accordingly.
  • All positions at Seattle University require a criminal history background check

    Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with T-SQL, SQL, Python, HTML, JavaScript.
  • Experience with enterprise messaging integration patterns.
  • Experience utilizing AWS Services (SQS/SMS/Lambda/S3).
  • Familiar with DevOps practices (Azure DevOps/AWS CloudFormation/CI/CD).
  • Demonstrated experience using one or more testing methodologies including unit, system, regression, and user acceptance testing.
  • Experience working in higher education.

    Compensation at a Glance:
    Salary Range: $69,500 - $86,600

    Seattle University has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, and not based on a candidate's gender or any other protected status.
