With an endowment exceeding $500 million, fiercely loyal alumni, exceptional students, and accomplished faculty and staff, Whitman College continues to build on its national reputation for academic excellence ranking as one of the top liberal arts colleges in the country.

Walla Walla

Located in southeastern Washington's scenic wine country and nestled at the foot of the Blue Mountains, Walla Walla is a diverse community that puts the best of small-town America within easy reach. The town of nearly 32,000 residents boasts a thriving Latino community, representing over 20 percent of the county population.

The Whitman College campus is located at the top of Walla Walla's historic main street which is ranked one of the best in the U.S. It mixes charming shops with trendy cafés and boutiques. Its numerous wine tasting rooms, gourmet restaurants, and abundant public art provide ready destinations and entertainment.

Many Whitman employees live only minutes from campus in one of the many historic and charming neighborhoods nearby. And Walla Walla has the shortest commute in the country according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

The rivers, woods, hills, mountains, and canyons that surround Walla Walla offer a diverse range of activities. Walla Walla is much drier than its neighbors to the west. Residents and visitors enjoy the bounty of sunny days by canoeing, kayaking, fly-fishing, hiking, skiing, rock climbing and bicycling around town and in the nearby area
