Position Information

This is a full-time, permanent (probationary) position.

This position may require the incumbent to be on-call 24/7 to assist in revolving emergency or urgent issues. The incumbent is required to maintain contact with their campus outside of their normal working hours on a regular basis via the separate On Call Procedures. Remote contact shall include telephone, cell phone, wireless data access device, remote monitoring of any hardware or software device, and/or electronic mail notification regarding the status of a campus system.

Conditions of Employment

Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Major Duties

Under the general direction of the Associate Director of Infrastructure and as part of a team, the incumbent is responsible for providing complex technical support for the structured Enterprise Architecture practices, hybrid cloud deployments, and on-premise-to-cloud migration deployments and roadmaps. Direct hands-on experience designing, developing, configuring, and deploying cloud-based infrastructure in Azure and AWS on technology infrastructure, network, compute, storage, and virtualization. Integration of cloud services with on-premise technologies from Microsoft, Amazon, IBM, Oracle, Alcatel Lucent, Nutanix, Dell, and etc. Infrastructure automation through DevOps scripting (E.g. shell, Python, Ruby, Powershell). Assist Associate Director with building the standards for infrastructure, deployment, and security implementations with the ability to understand future state of technology and the industry. Strong track record of successfully implementing Azure and/or AWS services in a variety of distributed computing environments. Strong practical Linux and Windows-based systems administration skills in a Cloud or Virtualized environment. Experience managing data center operations, including data assurance, monitoring, alerting, and notifications. Demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges.

Perform work independently and troubleshoot issues with cloud and on-premise application programs. Implement and document infrastructure designs, technical specifications, test plans, and support. Assist with the planning, design, development, and deployment of infrastructure projects, making sure timelines and deliverables are met, and ensures technical documentation is completed accurately, using the guidelines recommended by the Chancellor's Office, industry standards, and the campus development standards. Perform system design and development of complex cloud and on-premise application programs. Function as a contact for user support and perform an initial assessment. Research all user issues and independently resolve a wide range of technical problems for a diverse constituency of campus users. Provides technical, cross-functional coordination, facilitation, and consultation for campus infrastructure emerging technology. Consult with campus stakeholders to develop and review the requirements and feasibility of technical solutions. Assists management in developing project scope, timelines, and customer expectations. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Experience:
Equivalent to seven years of related work experience developing and maintaining enterprise-level infrastructure in Azure and/or AWS Cloud Service Architecture. Strong track record of implementing and maintaining Azure and/or AWS Services in a variety of distributed computing environments.

Required Education:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Systems, Engineering or a related field plus 5 (+) years of relevant full-time experience.
or
Masters or above in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or related field, and three (3+) years work-related experience.
or
Twelve years of relevant full-time experience may be substituted for the previously listed education and experience requirement.

Preferred Experience: Minimum of four years higher-education experience
Infrastructure automation through DevOps scripting (E.g. shell, Python, Ruby, Powershell)
Experience managing data center operations, including data assurance, monitoring, alerting, and notifications. Strong practical Linux and Windows-based systems administration skills in a Cloud or Virtualized environment

Certification: Any AWS or Azure Cloud certification

Responsibilities

75% Responsible for providing complex technical support for the structured Enterprise Architecture practices, hybrid cloud deployments, and on-premise-to-cloud migration deployments and roadmaps. Contribute to the creation and implementation of strategies and best practices with management Function as a contact for user support and perform an initial assessment. Troubleshoot issues with cloud and premise application support and effectively coordinate support escalation communication

20% Implement and document infrastructure designs, technical specifications, test plans, and support. Plan, design, develop and deploy infrastructure projects Ensure timeliness and deliverables are met and ensures technical documentation is completed accurately, using the guidelines recommended by the Chancellor's Office, industry standards, and the campus development standards. Communicate, analyze, and problem-solve to support the translation of requirements into technical deliverables utilizing a repeatable SDLC that ensures both quality and efficiency. Provides technical, cross-functional coordination, facilitation, and consultation for campus infrastructure emerging technology. Consult with campus stakeholders to develop and review the requirements and feasibility of technical solutions. Assist management with documentation of standards for data quality, integrity, and reliability throughout the department and organization by defining and promoting best practices.

5% Performs other related work as required.
