Position Summary:

Pace University's Westchester Campus is seeking a full time Information Security Analyst to be responsible for the implementation, monitoring, and execution of security strategies, best practices, policies, and standards to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of university IT resources. Reporting to the Information Security Officer (ISO) you will work closely with other Information Technology Services (ITS) staff on a variety of tasks, initiatives, and projects. Primary responsibilities include assisting with configuration, testing, and implementation of various security systems; incident responses; system audits; security awareness training; identifying and remediating potential security issues; and researching and analyzing security trends.

Specific Position Duties:

  • Configuration, implementation, and testing of various security systems and technologies.
  • Analysis of output of various security alerting tools, and development and execution of plans to remediate issues.
  • Researching and staying current on security technologies, trends, issues, legislation, threats and solutions.
  • Assisting with development and delivery of security awareness training for the university community, including faculty, staff and students.
  • Assisting with the implementation of on-going security risk assessments, scanning, intrusion detection, monitoring and remediation.

Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field required.
  • Information System Security Training preferred.
  • A minimum of two (2) years varied information technology experience with servers, operating systems, software, and/or network equipment, which includes implementing and maintaining various security technologies, is required. System Administration experience is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including diplomacy in dealing with sensitive information is required.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Basic knowledge of networking and application protocols such as HTTP, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, ICMP, etc.
  • Exposure to SIEM technologies would be helpful.
  • Knowledge of information security concepts and objectives.
  • Basic Linux experience including installation, configuration, and command line use is preferred.
  • Scripting experience (shell scripting, PowerShell, awk and/or PHP, Perl, Python, etc) is preferred.
  • Knowledge and use of regular expressions is preferred.
  • Experience with a database query language such as SQL, MySQL, AQL is preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of technology environments, including telecommunications, networks, programming, media, and desktops, and ability to apply IT in solving security problems.
  • Good understanding of Linux and Windows desktop and server operating systems along with data networking concepts.
  • CISSP, SANS, or other security-related certification is preferred.
  • Familiarity with project planning practices and processes.
