Position Description

Information Technology Services is the core IT function for Seattle University, with a team of employees and part-time students who are fully committed to supporting our mission: "Seattle University is dedicated to educating the whole person, to professional formation, and to empowering leaders for a just and humane world." As a member of IT Services and reporting to the Program Manager, the IT Buyer supports the organization by overseeing all aspects of the technical purchasing program, coordinating the computer refresh program, and acting as a liaison to the Service Desk for deployments.

This position is eligible for remote work twice a week after a training period.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

Collaborate with internal ITS teams and vendors to create standard hardware and software product offerings routinely purchased by the campus community.
Support routine end-user purchases: provide quotes, build virtual shopping carts, manage transactions, track orders and packages, receive goods, tag assets, document end-user application requests, maintain order history, and assist with the asset inventory. Work with customers to assess their needs in terms of hardware and applications and ensure that delivered devices satisfy the order.
Support non-routine technology purchasing, primarily by ITS staff: contact vendors, get quotes, compile information.
Under the direction of the Program Manager, coordinate deployment of devices under the computer refresh program.
Create internal order sheets so divisions/schools/colleges can request new computers, work with end users to collect data/application transfer requirements, help schedule deliveries, and manage pickup/recycling of old devices.
Coordinate with the Service Desk to ensure processes are streamlined and user-friendly.
Apply purchasing procedures and policies and recommend improvements.
Provide IT purchasing reporting and trend analysis to ITS leadership.
Ensure that Service Desk technicians have all of the information required for computer and peripheral deployment.
Answer questions about software availability, licensing, and purchase options.
Assist with other refresh programs by helping to draft RFPs, research potential vendors, compare bids, and place orders.
Manage the asset inventory of IT Services employee computers and peripherals: track the location and assignment of computers, monitors, and docks within the division.
