Job Description

This position will provide quality experience based instruction to Information Technology Systems students in, classroom, laboratory, and on-line learning environments. Key responsibilities include:
  • Deliver quality, experience-based instruction and hands-on laboratory activities designed to prepare students for successful entry into the workforce
  • Collaboratively work with program faculty, the Department Chair, and Technical Advisory Committee members to develop and maintain program curriculum
  • Participate in professional development activities to maintain state certification and engage in lifelong learning
  • Collaboratively work with program faculty and administrators to continuously assess and improve the program; this will include collecting data to assess student outcomes, participating in meetings to discuss and assess the quality of the program, and developing reports for the program review process
  • Actively participate in departmental, college, university, and community professional service opportunities
  • Recruit and advise Information Technology Systems students
  • Develop and maintain quality relationships with business/industry and other employers

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must possess or be eligible to obtain a postsecondary Limited Occupational Specialist (LOS) certificate (or higher) from the Idaho Division of Career Technical Education, including meeting one of the following criteria:
  1. Hold or have held an approved industry certification in a field closely related to the content area in which the individual seeks to teach as defined by the division of career technical education.;
  2. Demonstrate a minimum of 6,000 industry hours-50% of which occurred in the past five years-of professional experience in a field closely related to the content area you want to teach; OR
  3. Hold a baccalaureate degree in a field closely related to the content area in which the individual seeks to teach and demonstrate 2,000 hours-50% of which occurred in the past five years-of professional experience in a field closely related to the content area you want to teach
  • Hold Cisco Instructor certifications, or be willing to obtain them through training/testing within two years of hire
  • Ability to effectively communicate in both written and oral forms
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to lifelong learning and professional development
  • Ability to work with faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds

Preferred Qualifications
  • Six or more years of full-time, successful, recent, gainful employment in an Information Technology related occupation
  • Three or more years teaching/training experience in a professional or educational setting
  • Cisco CCNA certification
  • Knowledge of, and experience working with VMware
  • Knowledge of, and experience working with Red Hat Linux

Salary will be between $55,000 and $65,000 per year, commensurate with education and experience.
