The San Francisco Conservatory of Music is seeking an Associate Vice President of IT who will lead a team of IT professionals and student workers to ensure that our technology operations function at the highest level and manage the successful implementation of new IT systems. The incumbent will implement new technical initiatives; streamline, automate, and simplify processes; and educate staff, faculty, and students in the effective and appropriate use of technology at SFCM.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities



  • Leads ongoing projects to successful completion and manages new projects that expand existing systems

  • Analyzes the business requirements of all departments to determine their technology needs and identifies new software solutions that meet the needs of the expanding business.

  • Oversees all technology operations and evaluating them according to established goals

  • Devises and establishes IT policies and systems to support business initiatives

  • Coordinates the IT staff, including student workers, and provides guidance and mentorship to direct reports

  • Manages IT operational and capital budgets

  • Oversee the relationship with local MSP that provide remote monitoring and networkserver maintenance

  • Assists in building relationships with vendors and creates cost-efficient contracts

  • Purchases efficient and cost-effective equipment and software

  • Manages the team to be successful with projects such as single sign on, password reset, and implementation of mobile access to SIS and other systems such as the EMS scheduling system

  • Leads the process of gathering requirements for new technology initiatives

  • Performs other duties as required




  • A Bachelor's degree and 5 years of IT management experience

  • Established experience leading ongoing projects to successful completion and managing new projects that expand existing systems

  • Ability to identify new software solutions to ensure business success

  • Experience Overseeing all technology operations and evaluating them according to established goals

  • Experience managing in a Windows environment and experience with Microsoft Office applications

  • Experience with Google Suite for Education (Gmail; Google Apps; Google Classroom)

  • Business process improvement experience

  • Vendor management experience

  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills

  • Outstanding communication abilities
