Vanderbilt University seeks a collaborative, strategic executive to serve as its inaugural Executive Director, Cloud and Platform Engineering. This is a unique opportunity to lead the effort to leverage technology infrastructure at one of the nation's top-ranked private universities. Located in Nashville, Tennessee, Vanderbilt is globally renowned for its transformative education and research.

Reporting to the Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief Information Officer and serving as an integral member of the Vanderbilt University Information Technology leadership team, the Executive Director, Cloud and Platform Engineering will lead multiple engineering teams overseeing cloud services, storage solutions, server administration and automation engineering. They will be charged with the development and implementation of cloud services and IT platform strategies, ensuring that the organization's cloud and platform assets are secure, reliable and accessible and will guide enterprise IT infrastructure solutions to align with University business objectives and drive growth, adoption and innovation. They will also ensure that the IT engineering teams work effectively to deliver high-quality, reliable and scalable technology solutions that meet the needs of Vanderbilt University's business and customers.

The Executive Director, Cloud and Platform Engineering will have a deep understanding of cloud services, platform infrastructure, DevOps best practices and operations as well as a proven track record of building and leading high-performing engineering teams, experience with Agile software development methodologies and delivering complex technology projects on time and within budget. They will also be responsible for developing the pathways for next-generation automation development and infrastructure services to help advance the innovation goals of the organization.

The ideal candidate will be a team-oriented executive with experience leading a technology infrastructure function in a complex institution. They will be a change agent and have strong leadership, communication and analytical skills. They should be able to effectively manage teams and stakeholders and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
